Selection is based upon audition, which must include one selection from the Baroque or Classic period and one from the Romantic or Contemporary period.

Applicant must be nominated by the music department faculty.

Selection is based upon musicianship, scholarship, leadership, and contribution to the music department.

Applicant must be enrolled full time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to keyboard player.

Applicant must be 18-29 years old with an interest in music composition.

Applicant must be a double reed major with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Applicant must be a composer from North, Central, or South America and must submit a composition. Winning composition will be premiered at the national convention, and published by C.F. Peters Corp.

Applicant must be a member of Sigma Alpha Iota.

Applicant must be an organist or keyboard musician. Audition is required.

Applicant must submit one original 10-minute play no more than 10 typed pages long. Musicals, children's' shows, and plays that have received Equity production or have been previously submitted are not eligible.
